Treviso is a city in northeastern Italy, capital of Treviso Province, in Veneto Region. A picturesque city, with its canals and winding streets, Treviso is an agricultural and manufacturing center. Products include machinery, paper, and ceramics. Among the notable structures is the Cathedral of San Pietro (16th century), with seven domes. Originally a Roman settlement, Treviso was made the seat of a Lombard duchy in the late 6th century. It became a member of the Lombard League in the 12th century and was absorbed by the Venetian Republic.
